Tricia O'Keefe Senior Partnership Business Development Lead NCAR Director’s Office
  • Identify and prioritize short- and long-term opportunities to develop new partnerships and promote innovative applications for NCAR research science and science services as guided by the NCAR Strategic Plan and best practices, along with leading a process to identify internal gaps, in coordination with the Strategic Partnership Team and the UCAR Office of Government Relations & External Engagement (UGR).
  • Identify and qualify high-impact funding opportunities, contribute to a system of capture, and engage in follow-up in coordination with relevant parties to increase the success rate of business development and collaborative proposal efforts, in coordination with UGR.
  • Work to increase professional and strategic relationships with UCAR programs, universities, federal agencies, other FFRDCs, the private sector, and international organizations.
  • Attend, engage and help organize events, meetings, conferences, seminars, workshops, and other methods to gather information, maintain market awareness, and position the organization for future funding opportunities.
  • In execution of the NCAR Strategic Plan, participate in organizational opportunity assessments through tracking of proposal opportunities, identifying development teams to explore opportunities, provide quality assurance for surveillance plans, develop work breakdown structures, employ risk analysis and mitigation strategies, and apply formal management approaches.
  • Coordinate with the UGR and SPT to develop and/or utilize tools to track and prioritize scientific and business development trends and engage with organizational leads to identify and pursue opportunities; curate annual development of a prioritized list of NCAR strategic gaps. 
  • Utilize and recommend program and project management processes and procedures and other cutting-edge applications and methodologies to aid with organizing and managing cross-lab NCAR projects and business processes that involve partnerships. 
  • Liaise with UCAR, NCAR and UCP to provide effective communication and leadership on cross entity collaborations. Ensure internal and external information distribution of NCAR science and science services with oversight of distribution methods and metrics.
  • Participate in senior level meetings internally and with partner organizations, reporting on the program and bringing issues and solutions forward.
  • Coordinate the NCAR Strategic Partnership Team, to include leading routine meetings, setting meeting agendas, coordination of bi-annual retreats, and management and coordination of following up on resulting decisions and actions emerging from these and similar activities.

  • Leads the proposal review and submission process for all NCAR proposals
  • Leads the establishment and management of the Proposal Center of Excellence

  • Supports staff in areas of general administration and logistical support as needed, for example, taking meeting minutes, reviewing invoices, scheduling meetings, and other duties as assigned.
  • Edits/proofreads/formats administrative and/or specialized technical documents and edits non-technical portions for correct grammar, spelling and formatting such are spreadsheets, memos and presentations
  • Under the guidance of senior administration, carries out the onboarding process for new employees and visitors including, office setup, phone assignment, and coordination of other aspects of setup with IT and others in the process.
  • Stocks office supplies and ensures meeting rooms and common spaces are in order and ready for staff use.
  • Responsible for making, tracking, and reconciling routine purchases on company credit card and purchase orders. Develops an understanding of relevant purchasing policies and procedures and seeks guidance when requests are unfamiliar or complex.
  • Cross trains and strives to offer and seek help in balancing workload during busy periods.

  • Contributes to and updates the DO website content.
  • Responsible for overall travel function, which includes arrangements, both international and domestic. Works with traveler to ensure completion of requirement documentation, e.g., authorizations, vouchers, visas. Calculates per diem rates, and foreign currency. Ensures travel regulations are followed.
